Is aspen ok to use as my guinea pigs bedding?

Aspen is a great bedding for guinea pigs. It's absorbent, has good odor control and is safe if the guinea pigs eat it. Pine and cedar shavings are thought to cause respiratory and liver issues in small caged animals. I currently use aspen shavings for all the rabbits in my rabbitry and for the two guinea pigs I own (mother and daughter). All of them are healthy and happy.
